Decent data only SIM, but support could be quicker

Anyone else finding O2 pretty good for data-only SIMs? I picked up one for my dongle a few weeks back, and the setup was super straightforward. Connection speeds have been reliable, and the O2 Priority rewards are a nice perk for other things. I did have a quick question about checking my data balance – I found the info eventually on their site, but it took a bit of digging, which was a minor niggle. Overall, happy with the purchase and the value.

Great value with the rolling plan

Thinking of switching to O2 for your SIM? I picked up one of their rolling plan SIMs recently, and I'm pretty happy with it. The process of getting it set up was straightforward, and the O2 Priority rewards are a nice bonus, much better than some other networks like Giffgaff or Tesco Mobile. I did have to search a bit to figure out how to top up my O2 PAYG SIM for a friend's phone, which wasn't immediately obvious on their main site. Overall, good signal and solid data speeds for what I pay.

So happy with my 5G SIM!

I just got a 5G SIM from O2 and it's fantastic! The speeds are incredible, way faster than I expected. Delivery was super quick too, it arrived in just a couple of days. I'm definitely going to recommend O2 to all my friends who need a new mobile plan. I'll be back for sure!

Reliable as always

This isn't my first time with O2, I've been a customer for a few years now, mostly on their Big Bundles PAYG SIMs. This latest order for a rolling plan SIM went just as smoothly as my previous ones. The website is easy to navigate, and the activation process is always a breeze. It's nice to know I can count on them for consistent service and no unexpected hiccups. That reliability is why I keep coming back, even with all the other options out there. It's just a dependable network.

Good value, delivery was okay

I ordered a monthly SIM only plan with extra data. The plan itself offers decent value for the price, especially with the extra data offer. The setup was straightforward, and I managed to keep my old number without any issues. Delivery took about 5 days to reach me in Cardiff, which felt a bit slow compared to some other providers I've used. Customer service was helpful when I called about the activation, though I had to wait on hold for a bit. Overall, a solid choice, but they could probably speed up their shipping.

Got a new phone, all good

So, I snagged one of those refurbished handsets from O2 last week, a Samsung. It came looking really good, honestly, you'd barely know it wasn't brand new. The whole process, from picking it out online to getting it delivered, was pretty chill. I just popped in my old O2 SIM and it worked right away. No drama, which is always nice when you're buying tech. Felt like a good deal overall.

Great savings on my PAYG

I was really looking to save some money on my mobile, so I checked out O2's Pay As You Go phones. I found a good deal on a basic smartphone, and the new customer offer gave me some extra credit, which was a nice bonus. It felt like I got good value for what I paid. The phone arrived pretty fast too, and setting up the Big Bundle was simple. Definitely felt like a smart purchase for my budget.

Comparing O2 with Giffgaff for a PAYG SIM. Is the O2 network much better or is Giffgaff just as good these days for coverage?

S Sam Okafor 1 month ago
O2 definitely feels more reliable in cities, Giffgaff can be a bit hit or miss in some areas, especially indoors. Plus O2 Priority is a nice bonus.

Honestly, depends where you are. Giffgaff uses O2's network anyway, so in theory it should be similar. But I've found O2 direct can sometimes have better priority on the network when it's busy. YMMV though.

Does O2 still do those Disney Plus deals? Looking for a new contract and that would sway me.

F Faith V. 2 months ago
Yeah, they often have Disney+ included or as an extra for certain plans. Keep an eye on their website, it's usually part of the larger SIM-only or phone contract bundles.

I think it comes and goes with certain promotions. Best to check their current offers on the site, sometimes it's free for a few months, sometimes it's an add-on.

Heard about student discounts for O2. How do I actually get one, is it a promo code or something?

M Marcus Carter 1 month ago
Nah, it's not a promo code you type in. You usually have to go through a specific student portal like UNiDAYS or Student Beans to verify your status. They'll then link you to the O2 deals.

Afraid you can't just drop a code at checkout for it. You usually have to sign up or log in through a student discount site and it applies automatically when you choose a plan through their link.

Thinking of switching to O2 for a SIM only plan. How long does it usually take to get the SIM delivered? I'm in Manchester.

B Brett N. 2 months ago
Mine came pretty quick, like 2-3 days max for London. Manchester should be similar.

W Wendy Z. 2 months ago
Yeah, usually within a few working days. They send it first class, I think. You activate it online once you get it, super easy.

I'm looking at getting a refurbished phone from O2. Are they any good, like genuinely decent condition or super scratched up?

B Ben 2 months ago
I got a refurbished iPhone from them last year, and it was practically new. Came in a generic box but the phone itself was flawless.

They have different grades for refurbished phones, I think? Mine was a 'good' condition one and it had a few minor scuffs, but nothing major. Definitely worth it for the price difference.
